UNIS Phoenix Swim Club (PSC) - UNIS Hanoi Students Only
PSC aims to provide training opportunities for athletes to reach their potential as swimmers and as upstanding individuals. In Elementary School, squads are created based on age group. In Middle School and High School squads are based on ability level. During the year we have many Intra-squad, Inter-school and International Meets which offer appropriate competition. There are three seasons throughout the year. PSC operates as a division of the UNIS Aquatics Academy, is supported by UNIS Hanoi and thus adheres to school policies and procedures.
High School APAC Team
During second season High School swimmers have the opportunity to try out for the UNIS Hanoi Swim Team. Up to 36 swimmers may be selected to join the HS swim team. In January, of those 36, 24 swimmers (12 males and 12 females) are selected to represent UNIS Hanoi at the APAC Championship Swim Meet. HS Swim Team generally participates in one additional travel meet before the winter break as well as the UNIS Hanoi Invitational in early November. Outside of the second season, High School swimmers will train and compete as PSC swimmers.
What’s different about traveling as PSC?
During the PSC seasons for all away meets, families will be responsible for all fees related to travel. For certain meets families must make their own travel plans including air, hotel and ground transport. Individual Meet entry fees will initially be paid by UNIS Hanoi and billed to each family through the Business Office.
Additionally the families traveling will be responsible for the coaches’ expenses as well including airfare, hotel, ground transportation and per diem (as per UNIS Hanoi policy). This will be divided equally among all travelers based on a per swimmer ratio. The coach to swimmer ratio should not be greater than 1 coach per 12 swimmers. The PSC coach’s responsibility is limited to “at meet” coaching for meets with hotel stays. For homestay meets, coaches will adhere to established practices by MRISA or APAC schools and the host school.
Swimmers may only sign up after they have been allocated their appropriate squad and therefore all swimmers must attend the Assessment days. Those joining the school during the year must contact the Aquatics Manager for an individual assessment.
