To celebrate 30 Years of the Rights of the Child Convention, UNICEF and UNIS partnered to deliver a National Solutions Summit addressing the five top problems faced by young people in Vietnam!
Our Grade 10 and 11 student leaders partnered with students from BIS to facilitate visiting teams from across Vietnam to tackle;
- Violence at school (including bullying)
- Climate change and environment (including air pollution)
- Pressure to perform at school
- Sexual abuse
- Healthy and safe living (road safety, substance abuse)
Twelve teams from Hanoi, HCMC, Danang, Central Highlands and the northern province of Dien Bien convened at UNIS for two days of intensive problem solving and workshop'ing all guided and led by our UNIS students.
The UNIS and BIS student leaders had already spent a weekend training and planning at the start of the month and their new skills were in evidence as they worked with their teams skillfully and with dedication last weekend.
At the end of the weekend, all 12 teams pitched their ideas, 'Shark Tank' style to a panel of judges from UNICEF and MoLISA.
The four winning teams with their ideas to solve bullying at school, academic pressure to perform and climate change will continue to work with UNICEF in their localities to implement their ideas and present the outcomes to the government next year.
Congratulations to UNIS Grade 10 and 11 students for their hard work, dedication, leadership and passion to support change in Vietnam for their peers – UNIS students living our Vision!
