A group of visiting students from UNIS New York joined the Helping Hands Group on a visit to Sapa from 25 to 29 March 2019.
Having run rice and clothing drives during the early part of the year, UNIS students (with the help of students from NY) delivered the rice to two ethnic minority primary schools in Sa Pa (Sin Chai School and Sa Seng School) and held a jumble sale at Sa Seng School. In addition, students from UNIS Ha Noi and New York collaborated to deliver an art and craft class with the primary school students in Sin Chai and distributed reading books purchased through funding from the SCO and Birthday Gift Fund.
Nick Whatley, MYP/DP English language & Literature teacher who works with the Helping Hands service group commended that the attitude and behaviour of the students from the two school during the Sapa trip was exemplary.
The group was also accompanied by Mr. Thong from IT Office who supported them as they carried out essential maintenance on the laptop computers loaned to Sin Chai School at the end of the last academic year.
Well done to one and all!!!
