On Monday this week two groups of ES students met with Tom, Blue Dragon's Schools Officer, to hand over some money they had fundraised for Blue Dragon.
A small group of boys (Taylor G2, Hjalte, Xander, Seban, Max and Ole all G3) had taken the initiative to DJ and Dance, at a recent FleaMarket in Tay Ho, wearing sparkly hats to entertain the crowds. They put down one of the hats to encourage donations:
"We did it to be entertaining and fun. At the end we decided to help people in need and remember Blue Dragon and the people fighting to help others."
The other group were G4 students who had raised money through their G4 Market Day and had chosen Blue Dragon to be one of the charities they wanted to help. One student had also made a promotion video for Blue Dragon. Here's what their teachers had to say:
After studying children's rights the Grade 4 students developed their own social enterprises. They held a Market Day where they sold a variety of goods and services. Three of the social enterprise groups donated their profits to Blue Dragon. Kayley Manfredi explained, "We learned that there are many children in Vietnam that don't have the same opportunities that we have and as students at a UNIS we felt a responsibility to help."
