Annual General Meeting 8 May 2018
On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank everyone who came for a campus tour and attended the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Tuesday 8 May. A copy of the Board End of Year Report 2017-2018 can be found here and a meeting summary will be forthcoming.
The AGM presentation included a financial update and details of campus development costs and timings as well as information on the transition planning to acknowledge Dr. Barder and prepare for the new Head of School Jane McGee.
New Parent Elected Board Member - Michelle Dinh Jones
The Board takes pleasure in announcing that Michelle Dinh Jones is the winner of the parent election 2018. Michelle will assume her Board duties in June and will serve a term of 4 years 2018-2022. We are delighted to welcome Michelle to the Board and we look forward to working with her. Please read her bio here.
Acknowledgement of Long Serving Board Chair
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Nguyen Van Hieu for his dedicated service to the Board for the last seven years. Hieu joined the Board in 2011 and was elected to the position of Board Chair in January 2015. Previously, Hieu served as the Board Secretary in 2012-13, as chair of the Finance Committee in 2013-14, as chair of the Buildings and Facilities Task Force in 2012-13, and as member of both the Governance & Policy Committee and the Finance Committee in 2011-12. We are indebted to Hieu for his many years of dedicated service and commitment to improving international school governance. Over the years Hieu has not only supported the establishment of the Governance as Leadership workshop at UNIS Hanoi but has also actively presented many times at the yearly East Asia Region Council of International Schools Conference raising the profile and reputation of UNIS Hanoi far and wide.
The Board will plan to acknowledge Hieu and his many years of service to the school. In the meantime please join me in thanking Hieu for all that he has worked to achieve for UNIS Hanoi for so many years.
