Saturday Soccer
Saturday Soccer is an off-shoot of the UNIS Community Programmes, meeting the needs of soccer players from ages 4 to 15. It is an inclusive programme for all boys and girls from the Hanoi community.
Saturday Soccer offers players of all skill levels the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of soccer, meet new friends from throughout Hanoi, experience teamwork and cooperation and build their self-confidence. By incorporating the use of fun warm-up exercises, individual skill development, teaching the strategies of the game and playing in small-sided matches, players will be actively involved and benefit from a fun fast-paced work out. Separated annually into two sessions (Autumn and Spring), Saturday Soccer provides players with two opportunities to participate in session-ending tournaments with external and internal teams, where the emphasis is on participation. The tournaments are the culmination of the practices conducted over the nine to ten weeks of each session.
Saturday Soccer is open to all children in Hanoi. Priority admission to the programme is given to students who are currently enrolled at UNIS Hanoi. No refunds are given once the programme starts. There will be no rescheduling of practices due to weather conditions. If there is lightning, heavy rainfall or unsafe playing conditions, the practice will be cancelled.
The UNIS Hanoi Saturday Soccer Programme is a VOLUNTEER programme of mothers and father who give freely of their time to coach/train the players. The success of the programme is dependent on the number of parents who step forward to volunteer on Saturdays. There is a hands-on coaches training session prior to the end of the programme and printed resources/materials are provided to those volunteering to coach. We encourage parents to be part of the programme – the children love to see their parents out on the field. In return for your support as a volunteer coach, your child’s participation fee is waived, a coach's jersey is provided, and you will meet many new parents and kids. Be an active parent - join the UNIS Hanoi Soccer Programme as a Volunteer Coach. No experience is necessary. Just bring your enthusiasm and positive attitude and share in the joy of playing soccer.

What to Bring
- A water bottle

- Shinpads (these can be purchased at sports stores on Nguyen Thai Hoc st.)
Shin Pads, Hats and Water Bottle are Compulsory for Saturday Soccer.
Coaches have been instructed to send off players who are not wearing shin pads. We feel we must enforce this rule because there have been many injuries: it is very painful but very common to be kicked in the shins during soccer practice!
In order to prevent dehydration and heat-related illnesess Coaches and Players are required to wear sun hats and drink plenty of water.
Thank you for your understanding.
