The Power of Shared Learning

As one of only two UN international schools in the world, UNIS Hanoi has undertaken significant commitment to support education and local teachers in Vietnam over the past two decades. Our Kindergarten team hosts an immersive programme for local teachers stretching over several weeks which is supported by our Teaching Assistants and has transformed Early Years education in Hanoi.
This commitment has led to ad hoc conferences to allow for sharing, collaboration and professional growth and since 2020, when UNIS Hanoi established the Learning Together Fund, opportunities are being intentionally planned to extend the work more broadly and create a programme of professional sharing and collaboration with local education partners.
In a short period of two years since its start date, the Learning Together Fund has provided professional development opportunities for 460 educators from 155 local schools through two of our annual conferences, the Vietnam Tech Conference and Learning Together Conference.
Sen Nguyen, a teacher from 20/10 Kindergarten shared, “UNIS Hanoi offered us a wealth of resources. I was equipped with new skill sets to better accompany my students in their learning, especially when COVID happened and online teaching and learning was new to all of us.”
Lien Le, one of the 37 teachers at Mai Dich Kindergarten who participated in both occasions, was delighted to be part of it. “The conference programmes were rich and diverse. Thanks to UNIS Hanoi’s Learning Together Fund, I gained access to modern education, and learned new approaches towards teaching and appraising my students. Thank you UNIS Hanoi for sharing your knowledge with us, creating opportunities for us to connect with each other”. Inspired by the spirit of the Learning Together Fund, Lien continues to share her knowledge with teachers from other local schools in Hanoi.
This is just the beginning of a long and exciting journey. The Learning Together Fund will continue its mission to support UNIS Hanoi’s Vision of our “learning community as an inspirational role model for a better world”.
