Last week the UNIS Impact Fund Grants Sub-committee met and reviewed Grant applications from the community members and approved funding for the following projects:
- SCO Cookbook: Family Favorites for UN Day: Some Grade 12 parents and students are making a UNIS Hanoi cookbook with the theme “Family Favorites for UN Day”. They’ve collected amazing recipes from around the world which are contributed by members across the school community. The impact they hope to achieve is creating and keeping strong community bonds, relying on our shared UNIS values of learning and community. The cook book is planned to be published for the UN Day Celebration and available for sale to the community. The Grants Sub-committee has approved a fund of $1,000 USD to support the production costs for this cookbook. Funds raised through the sale of the cookbook will help cover G12 Graduation Committee activities supporting and celebrating our seniors.
Watch out for the special student voted menu from the Cookbook on UN Day at the School Canteen!
- Refill o’day service: This is a student led initiative with the aim to provide a sustainable solution where community members can refill household items (hand soap, dish soap, shower gel etc) using their home brought reused containers. The Impact Fund Grants Sub-committee has approved the fund of $500 USD in principle for this project idea, pending more details as the student group completes their market research and develops a more detailed business plan. Watch out this space for more updates from the Refillable service group with their plan to kick off the service in Semester 2!
The UNIS Impact Fund Project Grants are designed to support individuals or small groups with risk-taking, piloting, prototyping ideas or advocacy. Applications for Grants are open all year.
