Did you know November 30 is Giving Tuesday – the global day of generosity and unity?
And what better way for us to end UNovember than with an all community Move-A-Thon – a day for students, parents, faculty, staff and alumni joining together to ‘move the world’?
We won’t just have FUN, we also want to FUNdaise to support three Service Learning partners Blue Dragon, Blossom House, Koto and those most vulnerable in Vietnam during the Covid pandemic through our UNIS Emergency Relief Fund.
The idea is simple… we would like to see as many people as possible moving not only on the day but during the week of the Move-A-Thon as well (November 23-30). Everyone is encouraged to take part in some sort of sporting activity (you can choose to take our weekly challenge or do your own move from yoga, to boxing, walking or running..at your own pace).
Gearing up for Move-A-Thon Week
- This week the Activities office is sending out a SWORKIT challenge (one for ES and one for MS/HS) to jump start and get moving.
- Each weekend, we will release a SWORKIT challenge so that families can work together to be active. Parents are encouraged to take part as they can use their child’s SWORKIT account.
During Move-A-Thon week (November 23 – 30)
- The Activities office will share a link and timer that can be used to track your movement
- It will be great to see how many minutes and steps we as a community can achieve together for a good cause!
On November 30
There will be an assortment of real time activities as well as pre-arranged activities offered for all ages and families to take part in as we try to establish an inclusive event for everyone. We look forward to the event and please take the time to enjoy our challenges over this long weekend!
And how will we raise funds for the Emergency Relief Fund?
You can quite simply make a donation through our secure online giving website or maybe you try and get sponsors from your family and friends for the minutes you record Moving the World!
Let’s Get Moving! And join the global generosity movement, celebrate all acts of giving by donating to the Emergency Relief Fund
