From Personal Style to Purposeful Fashion

What began as a love for personal style at UNIS Hanoi has grown into Kina and Tam, a fashion brand founded by Linnie Tam (Class of 2014) that celebrates individuality, playfulness, and thoughtful design.

After studying in Australia and building experience through thrifting and online resale, Linnie transformed her passion into a creative business focused on expressive fashion and fair pricing.

Phoenix around the world can explore the collection and enjoy 20% off with the code UNIS20. Read Linnie’s story

Carrying the Phoenix Spirit from Hanoi to Amsterdam

This January, siblings Ella (Class of 2024) and Rafael Gubbels (Class of 2023) returned to UNIS Hanoi to share what life after graduation has really been like.

Now studying criminology and medicine in Amsterdam, they spoke with Grade 12 students about finding community, staying grounded through sport and service, and carrying UNIS values into new environments. Read their story

A Phoenix Across Two UN Schools

Former UNIS Hanoi Technology Director Adam Archer recently returned to campus for the Learning2 Asia Conference, reconnecting with colleagues and the community he called home for more than eight years.

Now based at UNIS New York, Adam reflected on how his time in Hanoi shaped his journey in education and prepared him for the fast-paced environment of New York. Despite the move, he said the spirit of both schools remains the same, grounded in UN values of kindness, multiculturalism, and community.

Watch Adam’s reflections on returning to a place that will always feel like home

A Glimpse Back to UNIS Hanoi in 1993

We recently welcomed Jennifer Smith, a former parent and music teacher, who returned with a collection of photos from the early days of UNIS Hanoi at the Văn Phúc campus.

Explore these special moments from when our community was small and just beginning its journey.

Back to the Classroom

After 25 years, John Cho (Class of 2000) returned to UNIS Hanoi — this time as a teacher. While completing his teaching certification through Moreland University, John supported Social Studies and Global Politics classes, working alongside teachers and leading lessons.

A full-circle moment for a Phoenix returning to the place that first shaped him.

🌟 Giving Back to the Next Generation

When Kelly Emblem (Class of 2013) returned to UNIS Hanoi as a guest speaker, it truly felt like coming home. Now working in healthcare and occupational therapy in Canada, Kelly shared how her passion for supporting marginalised communities grew from the empathy and curiosity she first developed at UNIS Hanoi.

Connecting with students and seeing reflections of her own journey made the visit especially meaningful. As Kelly shared, giving back is part of what makes the Phoenix community so special.
