Mia Nguyen (Class of 2015) is connecting with audiences globally through her podcast, Việt Boss Babes. Based in Toronto, Mia uses this platform to celebrate the resilience, ambition, and unique journeys of Vietnamese women living abroad. Through candid conversations, her podcast shines a light on the challenges and triumphs of balancing cultural heritage with life in a new country—all while inspiring listeners worldwide.
After earning her degree in Political Science from the University of Toronto, Mia found herself captivated by Toronto's vibrant tech scene and pivoted into product marketing. This year, she embraced another bold step, launching Việt Boss Babes—which she describes as "a love letter to all Viet queens." The podcast quickly resonated, filling a void for Vietnamese women seeking a space for community and shared experiences.

Mia believes that "Being Vietnamese abroad is a unique journey. You share elements of your story with others, yet your experiences are distinctively yours." This blend of shared identity and personal narrative fuels each episode. Vietnamese women from all walks of life discuss their careers, personal challenges, and the nuances of navigating heritage within daily life.
Her latest episode features Nhi Nguyen, another UNIS alum from the Class of 2015, who shares her inspiring journey of launching a startup. Enjoy it here.

Reflecting on her time at UNIS Hanoi, Mia credits her experience as essential in cultivating pride in her Vietnamese roots. She fondly recalls UN Day, and in particular the pride she felt wearing traditional attire and sharing her culture alongside so many other nationalities. These memories instilled in her the importance of community and storytelling—values she now channels into her podcast.

Through Việt Boss Babes, Mia invites listeners on a journey of laughter, vulnerability, and insight. Her path reminds us of the power of embracing one's identity, wherever life may lead. We eagerly anticipate where Mia's journey will take her next.
