Class of 2014's 10-Year Reunion

On the 6th and 7th of December, the Class of 2014 came together for a memorable reunion and relived cherished moments from their time at UNIS Hanoi. Celebrations included an afternoon on campus reconnecting with former teachers and a cosy dinner near West Lake, where they shared updates on their lives. HERE ARE SOME HIGHLIGHTS from their time on campus during this special 10-year reunion.

Following the success of the Class of 2014's reunion, it's time for the Class of 2015 to step up. Join our Facebook group for all the updates, share your ideas, and let the discussion begin. We are eager to get feedback on the timing of the reunion, how many alumni would consider travelling to Hanoi for it, and the experiences alumni want to have during their reunion weekend. Bao Chau Nguyen (Class of 2021) achieved a perfect 45/45 in the IB Diploma and graduated as the top student at the London School of Economics. Now pursuing an MSc in Financial Economics at Oxford, he balances academic success with passions like music and hiking. Proudly connected to his Vietnamese heritage, Bao Chau is committed to contributing to Vietnam's future growth.

Dylan Kim (Class of 2022) is making waves as the co-founder of MLV (Mam La Viet), an entrepreneurship and career preparation program empowering high school students to launch real companies. With the partnership with UNIS Hanoi, what started as just an idea has grown into a thriving initiative now valued at half a million dollars.

Mia Nguyen (Class of 2015) is connecting with audiences globally through her podcast, Việt Boss Babes. Based in Toronto, Mia is a dedicated product marketer who uses her platform to celebrate the resilience, ambition, and unique journeys of Vietnamese women living abroad. Through candid conversations, her podcast shines a light on the challenges and triumphs of balancing cultural heritage with life in a new country, inspiring a generation of listeners worldwide.

Viet Vu (Class of 2011), now a researcher at Toronto Metropolitan University, recently returned to UNIS Hanoi as a guest lecturer in economics. Viet shared stories from his time at the University of British Columbia and the London School of Economics, reminding students that success isn’t about having all the answers from the start—it's about embracing each step as a chance to discover new possibilities.

In Memoriam
 
   

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Conal Atkins, our former Elementary School Principal, who guided UNIS Hanoi's youngest learners with kindness and dedication from 2006 to 2008. Known for his warm spirit and love of literature, Conal fostered an inclusive environment that left a lasting impact on our community.

On behalf of UNIS Hanoi, we extend our deepest condolences to his wife, Irene de Jong, their children and families, and those among our faculty and staff who had the privilege of working alongside him.
 
   

It is with heartfelt sadness that we share the passing of Andrew Jerzey Swiderski, who served as UNIS Hanoi's PE Head Teacher and ASA Coordinator from 2000 to 2002. Andrew passed away on November 19, 2024, due to a heart attack.

During his time at UNIS Hanoi, Andrew brought energy, enthusiasm, and a true passion for inspiring students to embrace physical education and extracurricular activities. We extend our deepest sympathies to Andrew’s family, friends, and all who knew him during his time at UNIS Hanoi.
