Admissions Policies

Applications for the new school year open in mid-January, with offers beginning in March. While we follow a rolling admissions process and accept applications year-round, we recommend students start with their peers in August or at the beginning of the second semester in January. We also understand that families may relocate mid-year and strive to make these transitions as smooth as possible.

Below are the main factors that influence a students admissions into UNIS Hanoi:

Cultural Diversity Policy
In order to retain our truly diverse student body, nationality quotas have been applied to our admissions process.

EAL Policy:
We offer support for English as an Additional Language (EAL) to students based on grade specific quotas (Up to grade 10).

Learning Support:
We successfully serve a managed number of students presenting with mild and moderate learning differences. Each application will be reviewed individually to determine if a child's learning support needs can be supported successfully by our daily programme.

Prioritisation Policy:
As a school founded by the United Nations and the Vietnamese government, we give priority to United Nations agency families, diplomatic corps, siblings of current students, alumni families and expatriate families.

Wait Pool

Admissions policies applied to our school, such as prioritisation, cultural diversity and caps on English as an Additional Language (EAL)  and Learning Support programmes, do not enable for us to guarantee placement in advance for each child whose deemed admissible.

If Enrolment is not immediately available due to space constraints, applicants will be placed in a wait pool. Completed applications shall be placed on the relevant grade level wait pool for the remainder of the academic year. When a student withdrawals from the programme and a seat becomes available, the Admissions team will contact eligible applicants in the wait pool following prioritizations within the Admissions Policies.

The wait status only applies to the year applying and if you want to be considered for the following school year, you must reapply with updated school reports, teacher recommendations, testing (if applicable) and pay the application fee.

Please do not hesitate to contact the Admissions team at (+84 24) 7300 4508 or email admissions@unishanoi.org for information regarding your child's application status.
