Welcome from the Head of School

Welcome to United Nations International School of Hanoi (UNIS Hanoi).

With a rich thirty year history and guided by the principles of the UN, UNIS Hanoi provides a unique, high quality educational experience committed to inspiring and equipping our students to build a better world.

The school has come a long way from its opening day in 1988, when as the first international school in Vietnam; it opened its doors to 12 students. Today, serving over 1100 students from over sixty nations, UNIS Hanoi brings a diverse group of individuals together around a common vision, mission and set of values that are the foundation of our learning community.

Our values of Learning, Community and Responsibility define our community - who we are, what we do and why we do it.

With a focus on Learning, our students are exposed to a learning environment that challenges them to think critically, using and applying knowledge in the classroom and to engage meaningfully with local and global issues.

With a focus on Community, our students take action to create a safe, caring and sustainable environment that supports meaningful relationships within our school and deepens their understanding of different cultures and perspectives in the world around them.

With a focus on Responsibility, our students know they play the most important part in their own education. Through ownership, accountability and integrity, our students become advocates for themselves and others.

What makes us truly unique is our professional, caring and committed staff of over 300 individuals whose sole purpose everyday is to provide an outstanding educational experience for each child.

Please stop by and visit us so we can share our wonderful school community with you.
