Sports Centre Development

No students will need to be relocated off-campus or to different areas of the school due to construction. Every effort is being made to minimise disruption to daily learning and activities. Construction will be phased carefully, ensuring that major works are conducted away from core learning areas. For example, work on the swimming pool and sports courts has been scheduled to take place when alternative facilities are available for use.

Where possible, the most disruptive construction activities will be scheduled during school holidays, weekends, and non-teaching hours to limit the impact on students and staff. Additionally, high-quality acoustic barriers will be installed to reduce noise pollution, and designated pedestrian and traffic routes will be implemented to ensure smooth movement around the campus.

Given that construction is taking place in an active school environment with young children, strict safety measures will be in place to separate construction areas from school activities. These include:

• Secure hoarding and fencing to segregate construction zones from school spaces. The fencing will be regularly inspected to ensure it remains intact and effective.
• Restricted access gates, guarded by security personnel, to prevent unauthorised entry into construction areas. These gates will be controlled by the contractor to ensure no uncontrolled crossings between construction sites and student pathways.
• Clear, unobstructed pedestrian pathways around construction sites to ensure safe passage for students, staff, and visitors. These pathways will be kept clean and well-marked with directional and safety signage.

To minimise airborne dust particles, the following measures will be implemented:

• Hacking and demolition work will be scheduled for weekends or off-peak hours to reduce dust exposure.
• Bare earth surfaces will be covered or treated to prevent dust from spreading.
• Dust netting will be installed around construction zones where necessary.

While some noise is inevitable, the project team is committed to keeping it within acceptable levels by:

• Using real-time noise monitoring systems to track and control noise pollution.
• Scheduling the loudest construction activities for weekends and non-teaching hours.
• Installing soundproof barriers and shielding devices around high-noise equipment and areas.
• Ensuring compliance with national regulations for noise levels and working hours.

The new complex will provide:

• Year-round access to high-quality, climate-controlled sports and fitness facilities.
• Enhanced training opportunities for student-athletes to develop their skills.
• Expanded recreational spaces to support a wider range of activities, including non-team sports.
• Safer and more sustainable infrastructure, improving overall campus well-being.

The current Sports Centre Development is scheduled for completion at the end of July 2025. Regular updates will be provided to the community to ensure transparency and clarity regarding progress and timelines.

Beyond benefiting students, this project will:

• Create new opportunities for parents and community members to engage in wellness and fitness activities.
• Support local and regional sports events.
• Support other non-sport related school-wide events.
• Enhance our school’s reputation by offering world-class facilities that attract top student-athletes and educators.
