UNISMUN November 2025 Conference – It’s a Wrap!

UNISMUN November 2025 Conference – It’s a Wrap!

On November 1-2 last weekend, UNIS Hanoi had the pleasure of hosting the UNISMUN November 2025 Conference (Watch our Wrap video HERE). With 17 schools in attendance, including 400+ Middle School & High School MUN student delegates, directors, admins, and numerous support students. The conference was a lot of fun and was a massive success!

On Saturday morning after arrival, the opening ceremony took place, where our Secretaries General officially marked the start of the conference. With the focus on the theme of Sovereignty, we opened with a smash live performance from our very own UNISMUN Jazz band “Combo 3.5”. In addition to being awesome, passionate musicians, each member of the band also plays an important role in UNISMUN. Even one of our Secretary Generals was in the band!!!

A very impactful presentation was also brought to us about their experiences at the Choeung Ek Genocide Memorial to the Victims of the Cambodian Genocide from our ISPPMUN Traveling Delegates. Several students shared what it meant and felt to ‘bear witness’ to such an atrocity. They also included a moving video that captures their thoughts and feelings while they were there.

Then, our Secretaries General welcomed the UN Resident Coordinator of Vietnam, Ms. Pauline Tamesis. Ms. Tamesis held an engaging discussion where she shared her insights on the UN’s work to promote sovereignty in Vietnam. Students actively participated in the discussion and showed their enthusiasm through a series of questions to Ms. Tamesis.

All UNISMUN delegates were excited and ready to jump into debating, which marked the start of a fruitful conference. Followed by the arrival. Students nationwide were eager to participate and prepared for any challenges they would encounter. Throughout the 2-day conference, 14 committees debated 20 controversial topics, leading to various strikes, amendments, and VETOs that resulted in the passing or failing of resolutions.

Whether they were delegates who were brave enough to speak on the podium, chairs who kept the house in order, or directors who assisted in the approval of resolutions, everyone came together to create an unforgettable conference.

At the closing ceremony, there was a special globe activity that had the whole crowd cheering. The chairs for each committee then came up to give their final remarks, and each committee’s tiktoks were presented, which had the UNISMUN family excited.

The ceremony ended with a THIS closing video, edited by Dion Payne, documenting memories made at the conference and finally revealing the new Secretaries General of the UNISMUN 2026 March Conference: Dan Nguyen, Jisoo Kang, Jin Geon, and our first ever Deputy Secretary General: Jessica Nguyen! Keep an eye out for more information about the upcoming conference.

A special thanks and congratulations are due to the leaders who were organizing this conference. The first shoutout goes to the Secretaries General Josef Schmidt, Hailey Kim, and Olivia Kim, who have carefully planned and kept the conference going.

The second shoutout goes to all the leadership departments that contributed to the success: the admin team for being the backbone and meeting everyone’s needs, the technology team for fixing any issues, the human resources team for their careful planning, the chair & delegate training team for preparing students, the Media Corps Team for pushing content out and documenting the conference, and the ES/MS team for welcoming young kids into a fascinating activity!

Finally, a huge thank you to our High School MUN directors, Mr. Anagnost, Ms. Howard, Middle School MUN Director, Mr. Tabbara, Ms. Kimber, and Ms. Amber for guiding a whole community into success and shaping worldviews.
