UNIS Hanoi Students explores learning in NYC
UNIS Hanoi students recently had the unique opportunity to travel to New York City and participate in a student-led United Nations Conference hosted by UNIS New York. Centered around the future of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and global collaboration, the experience empowered students to engage with global peers, explore real-world challenges, and develop their leadership and public speaking skills on an international stage.
The heart of the trip was the UNIS-UN Conference, where students gathered in the UN General Assembly Hall to hear from keynote speakers and participate in workshops and debates. The conference explored AI’s role in shaping the future, including its applications in education, employment, healthcare, and ethics. Students heard from speakers like Ms. Reshma Saujani, who spoke passionately about digital equity, and Mr. Greg Harper, who demonstrated how collaboration and technology can support the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
Workshops allowed students to dive deeper into topics such as the ethics of AI in politics and the future of work. “We were lucky to have this opportunity to learn about AI and watch international students having POI’s section, and debating,” shared Grade 10 Aiden.
Beyond the conference, students enjoyed cultural and historical experiences, including visits to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, learning about immigration and the symbolism of freedom and opportunity. The trip also included iconic sights like the World Trade Center, Empire State Building, and Broadway, with students wrapping up the week by watching The Lion King. Throughout the experience, students reflected on what it means to be global citizens.
“Today was an amazing sight seeing day where we got to see the Statue of Liberty and Ellis island. All of the students had amazing opportunities to take pictures and enjoy the amazing view,” shared Grade 9 Otis.
This transformative learning experience showcased UNIS Hanoi’s commitment to empowering students with real-world experiences that inspire leadership, global thinking, and action for a better world.
