UNIS Hanoi & UNICEF: 50 Years for Children

UNIS Hanoi & UNICEF: 50 Years for Children

On 26 November 2025, members of the UNIS Hanoi Board, together with Dr Gale, were honored to attend UNICEF Vietnam’s milestone celebration at the Vietnamese Women’s Museum. The event marked 50 years of cooperation between Vietnam and UNICEF and 35 years since Vietnam ratified the Convention on the Rights of the Child—a powerful reminder of the country’s long-standing leadership in advancing child rights.

The celebration highlighted Vietnam’s unique legacy: in 1990, it became the first country in Asia and the second globally to ratify the Convention on the Rights of the Child, just one year after its adoption by the UN General Assembly.  By that time, UNICEF had already been partnering with the Government of Vietnam since 1975, working side by side to improve the lives of vulnerable children.

Guests had the opportunity to experience the extraordinary photo exhibition “A Legacy of Partnership for Child Rights,” which showcased historic milestones and the remarkable progress achieved through decades of shared commitment and collaboration.

UNIS Hanoi is especially proud to congratulate Silvia Danailov (UNICEF Representative in Vietnam) and Tara O’Connell (Chief of Education, UNICEF Vietnam) – both valued members of our Board – for their leadership and for this landmark milestone event. Their dedication embodies the shared values of our school community: promoting inclusion, safeguarding children, and building a better future for every child in Vietnam.

UNIS Hanoi celebrates this inspiring achievement and continues to stand in support of UNICEF’s mission and its enduring partnership with Vietnam.
