Una Carta para un Abuelo (A Letter for a Senior)

Una carta para un abuelo (A letter for a senior) is the service learning initiative that we embarked on last year and we will repeat this year. Our students of Spanish have worked on, a testament to our values of responsibility and community and the IB attribute of caring.  After a successful participation last year, we would like to invite all the Spanish able writers in the community to participate with us.

A letter for a senior is an initiative by www.adoptaunabuelo.org , a Spanish NGO supporting senior citizens living in residences with limited or no family support. For the past few years, this organisation has promoted the importance of empathy and messages of kindness as part of the well-being of seniors. 

This year, for the second time, UNIS Hanoi and our Spanish learners will be involved in writing letters for some of the 360,000 seniors awaiting holiday wishes. The project has been an opportunity to work with writing skills across all levels and courses.

We are delighted to share a heartwarming update on our partnership with Adopta Un Abuelo, the Spanish NGO that supports senior citizens. This year, our UNIS Hanoi community wrote 90 beautiful letters in Spanish — each one a message of kindness, empathy, and connection for seniors spending the holidays far from loved ones. This initiative continues to reflect our values of Responsibility and Community!

Thank you to every student, teacher, and community member who contributed a handwritten letter. Your words will bring warmth and joy to seniors across Spain this holiday season.
