Tết Trung Thu – Moon Festival
Tết Trung Thu – Moon Festival
“TẾT TRUNG THU” is one of the most important festivals in Vietnam. It is a traditional festival for children and is celebrated on the 15th of the eighth lunar month. This year, Tết Trung Thu falls on 29 September, 2023
The celebration of “Tết Trung Thu” is a highlight of the Vietnamese programme which helps students and the school community to learn more about the host country.
At UNIS Hanoi, we celebrated Tết Trung Thu on Wednesday, 20 September. What a special morning we had when all the Elementary students and teachers came to school in their colourful Áo dài – the Vietnamese traditional dress. Everyone was so excited to watch a fun-packed, creative Tết Trung Thu Assembly hosted by Grade 2, Grade 4, and Grade 5 Vietnamese language class students. The students led the audiences through a “Moon Festival Musical show” based on the story of Cuội – the boy who flew to the moon with his magical tree. All the performers had shown their amazing efforts in putting the performance together on the stage.
During the day, all the students in the Elementary School had a Moon Festival toy-making workshop with their teachers and peers. They had the opportunity to demonstrate their creativity in making some Tết Trung Thu toys, from painting lanterns to designing bamboo fans, from painting bamboo masks to making “tò he” – rice dough puppets… They also had fun trying some Vietnamese Moon Festival food at their party
Everyone had a great time celebrating “Tết Trung Thu” at UNIS Hanoi.
