Three Students Recognized for Academic Acumen by Johns Hopkins Center

A second group of UNIS Hanoi students have been recognized for their academic acumen by the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth (CTY). The three students, all in Grade 8, performed exceptionally well in verbal and math assessments taken as part of the CTY Talent Search. As a result, they were presented with High Honors Awards by the globally-renowned institution.

The students are:

Benjamin, 8, Verbal and Math

Zey, 8, Verbal and Math

Khin, 6, Verbal

Benjamin, Zey and Khin join six other UNIS Hanoi students who had also recently received High Honors Awards from the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth. The nine UNIS Hanoi students were among 16,000 students from 66 countries who tested with CTY in the 2019-20 Talent Search. Less than a quarter of CTY Talent Search testers qualify for CTY High Honors Awards and UNIS Hanoi's students were the only recipients from Vietnam.

In addition to earning a High Honors Award, one student, Benjamin, also qualified for the Grand Honors Award based on his verbal ability. This means that Benjamin scored in the top 12% of all students who took the assessment.

“Honorees, today we celebrate the knowledge and perseverance you have demonstrated by taking a test designed for much older students and achieving a remarkably high score,” said Amy Shelton, CTY’s Interim Executive Director and Director of Research. “Above all, today we celebrate your potential. In the months and years to come, we hope you’ll stay curious, keep challenging yourself and continue learning and growing as a scholar. Use your talents to do good things in your communities.”

UNIS Hanoi congratulates you on your achievements!
