Robotics Recap

This past week has been a busy week for our robotics programme! Students have been utilising our new robotics space, preparing their robots for competition.

Middle School Teams
Over the weekend of 29 and 30 November, our middle school cohort participated in a qualifying event hosted by Dwight International School. The students employed their Vex IQ robots to tackle a challenge called Mix and Match. The tournament had participants from various schools across Northern Vietnam.

Although our teams did not get a victory this time, the students gained invaluable experience from the competition. This foundational understanding of the judging process and tournament atmosphere, a first for many of our participants, will be crucial knowledge applied toward future competitions.

High Schoolers Teams
Just a few days later, on Tuesday, 2 December, our high school team brought their Vex V5 robot to Dwight. They participated in a scrimmage competition alongside other international schools based in Hanoi. This served as vital preparation for our major, upcoming competition scheduled for February in Saigon. They are completing a challenge called Push Back.

The high schoolers got a ton of constructive feedback and ideas for enhancing their robot’s design and functionality. This scrimmage has set them on a clear path for refinement ahead of the large-scale event.

We look forward to sharing updates as our students continue their journey of innovation and technical skill development!
