Renowned Theatre Artist Mark Hill at UNIS Hanoi

UNIS Hanoi Secondary School theatre students have had a great opportunity to work with renowned artist, Mark Hill, for the past two weeks. Mark Hill is an expert in diverse theatre styles including Butoh Japanese Theatre Style, Noh Traditional Japanese Theatre, Suzuki and Viewpoints, both practitioners who developed a rigorous system of physical theatre training for actors and Kecak Balinese Traditional Theatre.

He has been part of two professional theatre companies and has been working in theatre education and creation for 25 years. Mark travels all over the world working with students in International Schools. His work is pedagogically connected to MYP and DP Theatre and he is very familiar with the units of work that our students are experiencing and learning about. He has been working with the MYP classes and the IB Year 1 class teaching the students valuable performance skills that have equipped them with more confidence on stage, and performance ideas. Our students have been having a lot of fun working with Mark.

Mark is Australian however he lives with his partner in Tokyo, Japan and speaks fluent Japanese. Before visiting UNIS Hanoi he was doing a residency at ISB Thailand, ISPP Cambodia and from UNIS Hanoi he will travel to Dar es Salaam to work at ISD then ASJ Johannesburg before he heads to Switzerland and other schools in Europe.
