In 2018 Amie led the work to define the Terms of Reference  for the `Governance as Leadership Training Institute’ at UNIS Hanoi, firmly establishing the leading role of the UNIS Board in this unique and globally recognised governance training course for Boards and their Heads of School.

We are indebted to Amie for her incredible commitment and dedication. She will be sorely missed by her colleagues past and present on the Board. Amie is returning to the States with her family. Please join me in acknowledging the tremendous legacy of Dr Amie Pollack’s commitment to the UNIS Hanoi Board of Directors.

Departure of UN Appointed Director Dr Le Thanh Forsberg

The Board would like to acknowledge the wealth of contributions provided by  Dr Le Thanh Forsberg during her three years on the Board. Le Thanh (UN Strategic Results and Partnerships Specialist) was appointed to the Board by UN Resident Coordinator Mr Kamal Malhotra in June 2019. During her first year on the Board, Le Thanh was actively involved in the Strategic Plan Task Force and participated in all stakeholder focus group discussions. Le Thanh was also a member of the Committee on Directors (2021-2022). In addition,  Le Thanh attended Advisory Council meetings and provided ongoing guidance and advice on legal status discussions as well as district and local health authority regulations as we worked through Covid and the reopening of campus to students.

We are indebted to Le Thanh for her commitment to UNIS Hanoi. Le Thanh and her family will be returning to Sweden this summer.

Departure of UN Appointed Director Simone Vis

The Board would like to thank Simone Vis for her contributions to the Board over the last two years. Simone was appointed to the Board in July 2020. Simone was a keen participant in our generative sessions on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Social Justice, helping to formulate and monitor our Board Goals in this area. In addition, with her wealth of experience as Chief of Education with UNICEF, Simone was able to contribute significantly to our school status discussions. Unfortunately, due to an earlier than expected posting, Simone stepped down from the Board in May of this year. We are grateful for Simone’s interest in International School governance and would like to thank Simone for her dedicated service to the Board. We wish her and her family a smooth transition to Sudan.
