PYPx to SDG3 Day: A Week of Learning, Growth and Action
What an incredible week is has been in the Elementary School. Huge congratulations to each and every one of our Grade 5 students as they shared their PYPX inquiries with the entire community – from our 3 year old friends in Early Years, to Secondary Students, faculty and also parents, our Grade 5 students proudly talked knowledgeably about their areas of investigation, displayed new skills, identified areas in which they had grown and also been challenged as researchers and collaborators. This enormous 7 week project was made possible through the incredible leadership of our grade 5 team, as well as almost 90 mentors across our community who supported each Grade 5 student with meetings, resources and encouragement.

To end the week, we celebrated “Good Health and Wellbeing Day”, better known as “SDG3 Day”. Students in Grades 1-5 curated their own programme for the day, choosing from a range of activities from the 3 PE strands of “Active Living”, “Identity” and “Interactions”. SDG3 day designed as a holistic experience that prioritizes personal well-being, cultural appreciation, and individual autonomy, which focuses on:
- A Balanced, Healthy Lifestyle: Promoting an understanding of the factors that contribute to long-term physical and mental well-being.
- Active Living: Emphasizing the importance of regular physical activity and developing basic motor skills.
- Identity & Heritage: Celebrating what makes students unique and exploring the cultural heritage of the host country, Vietnam.
- Community & Inclusion: Building relationships through shared experiences where “everyone is included” and students show care and respect for one another.

Early Years and Kindergarten students also demonstrated agency and had opportunities to be self-directed in their
SDG3 Day activities, choosing from a wide range of physical challenges. A very different model from traditional sports days of the past which had a more singular focus on physical prowess, competition and winning.
Congratulations to our PE department for stellar organisation, allowing more than 500 students choice and voice over how they would participate in their own SDG3 experience.
