Nurturing Well-being and Community Spirit on SDG3 Day

On Thursday, 25 April, Grade 1-5 students participated in SDG 3 Day. The day was a chance to come together as a UNIS community. The sunshine may have faded, but the memories of Grades 1-5 SDG3 Day are sure to stay bright! It was a day that celebrated well-being in all its forms.

We know that well-being isn’t a one-size-fits-all concept. Physical activity is important, but it’s just one piece of the puzzle. Mental, social, and emotional health, all play a role in how we feel and perform.

That’s why SDG 3 Day is designed to be a holistic experience. Students were able to sign up for activities based on the IB PYP PE framework of Active Living, Identity and Interactions. This agency – the power to choose and participate actively – fostered a sense of ownership and boosted self-esteem in how students can be self managers throughout the day.

The benefits went beyond individual participation. The high-fives between teammates and the shared laughter throughout the day created a strong sense of community. This social connection is another key pillar of well-being, and it was on full display at SDG 3 Day.

We saw students supporting each other, families cheering on their loved ones, and a general atmosphere of positive encouragement. This focuses on mental and social well-being complemented the physical activity, creating a truly holistic experience.

Congratulations to all who participated! Here at UNIS Hanoi, we’re committed to nurturing well-being in all its aspects, and SDG 3 Day was a fantastic example of how that translates into action. We look forward to seeing you all again next year for another day of healthy fun and community spirit!
