Moulding Emotions: Grade 11 Explores Feelings Through Clay
Grade 11 students continued to engage in activities focused on externalizing their worries. We looked at the worries they wrote in the Worry Jar last week to have them identify whether those issues are still worries. We then asked if they were able to move anything off of their plate or clean their plate each night.

This week we also introduced the concept of “moulding their emotions”. Each student was given a piece of clay and time to turn it into an object that reflects a current, overwhelming emotion. It was a powerful exercise hearing them explain why they created what they did and what it represents to them. Counsellors are hoping students can use these strategies to find healthy ways to manage their emotions. We encourage parents to discuss these activities with their children to see if any strategies resonated and how they might incorporate these strategies into their daily routines as important academic deadlines approach.
