“Head, Hand, and Heart” – MSHS Visual Art Awards
This award recognizes students who have proven great skill and attitude in what we call “head, hand, and heart” both inside and outside of the art classroom. It was difficult to select only one individual from High school and one from Middle school this semester as we have so many students in each grade who excel in contributions to the visual arts here at UNIS Hanoi.
The Values of the Celebration of Artists Award:
- Head: This symbolizes the intellectual engagement and critical thinking that students bring to their art. It highlights their ability to conceptualize, plan, and critique their work, demonstrating a deep understanding of artistic principles and theories.
- Hand: Representing the technical skills and craftsmanship involved in creating art, this value emphasizes the hands-on efforts students make to bring their ideas to life. It recognizes their proficiency and dedication to refining their skills in various artistic media.
- Heart: This represents the emotional depth and passion that students infuse into their creations. It acknowledges their ability to connect with their work and express themselves authentically, allowing their art to resonate with others on a personal level.
Honoring Our Recipients
Thy Pham is a standout Grade 11 artist who balances intentional inquiry in the classroom with bold leadership outside of it. From proposing workshops for MRISA AX to teaching tufting in the SIP club she leads, Thy has become a quiet but powerful, reliable leader in our arts community. We are incredibly proud of her contributions and excited to see what she achieves over the next two years.

Moon Nguyen (Grade 8) has shown an endless dedication to visual arts, constantly exploring new ideas while growing their art making skill and ability. Moon is a student who approaches each project with big ideas and detailed plans to match. Whether it’s for school, a friend, or an act of service, she authentically finds joy in each artwork, all while sharing their learning by helping those around them. Moon is not only a talented young artist, but a student who leads by example in the care they show to others. We can’t wait to see what she makes next!
