Hanoi Swim Club’s Invitational 2023 – UNIS Success!
The first ever Hanoi Club Invitational was a huge success with 16 teams and over 400 swimmers participating. On the day we had 700 people around the pool and many smiling faces. UNIS swimmers did particularly well and a total of 5 swimmers managed to add a time to the record board:
- Liz Park broke the 11-12 50m Freestyle record with a time of 31.04. She also bettered her 50m Breaststroke record with a time of 40.12.
- Rafael Gubbels continued to splash his name on the board with a 50m Butterfly record of 26.78. It must be mentioned his 100m time was also improved during the APAC competition down to 55.82.
- Hayoon Kim broke the 13-14 50m Butterfly record with 33.36.
- Both Jesse Padungtod and Minjo Hwang tied with a time of 30.15 in the 13-14 50m Freestyle. This broke a 2009 record, a year in which they were both born!
Special mention must also go to those swimmers which reached the top 3 in their age group: Ella Jung, Wonwoo Chang, Aston Pook, Liz Park, Lina Danno, Woojin Chang, Minjo Hwang, Hayoon Kim, Jesse Padungtod, Mina Dippe, Ella Gubbels, Jacky Padungtod and Rafael Gubbels. Also we had 8 out of the 10 age group teams won by UNIS. This is a real show of depth of the squad.
We wish the team well in this weekend’s ISB Splash in Bangkok. 45 swimmers will attend this meet.
