Grade 4 students took agency over their own Field Trip this week during an inquiry into Vietnamese Heritage, this week. As part of their Where We Are in Place and Time Unit, students were able to choose their destination from a selection of heritage sites across Hanoi. While all students either began or ended their exploration at the Temple of Literature, their choices included the Citadel, Ho Chi Minh’s Stilt House, Hoa Lo Prison and the National Museum of Vietnam.
Students are reflecting on what we choose to preserve and how these choices influence future generations. They are developing their Learner Profile skills of being open-minded, caring thinkers, and considering different perspectives and connections between our cultures.
What has Vietnam chosen to preserve and what does this tell us about the values that are important to Vietnamese Culture? What connections can we all make between our own cultures and heritage?
