The Chair Design Activity was part of Grade 2’s How the World Works Unit. During the study unit, students discovered that materials have different properties which determine how people use them.
Grade 2 designers were asked to choose a client and design a chair tailored to specific purposes. From a Study Chair to a Classroom Chair, an Outdoor Chair, a Gaming Chair, and an Artistic Chair, each design caters to unique user needs.
Our small designers navigated many decisions about the materials that would be used to build the chair and how to build a prototype with materials from the maker space. The project culminated with an exhibition for other young visitors to enjoy the beautiful creations and ask questions about the process.
Congratulations to all Grade 2 students for your unwavering persistence and achievements. Enjoy their creations!
