Grade 10 Personal Project Exhibition

Grade 10 Personal Project Exhibition
On Tuesday night, March 10, the Grade 10 Personal Project Exhibition took place on our UNIS campus. Almost 200 parents and guests came to celebrate this significant milestone in the students’ learning and marvel at the amazing outcomes of independent student-driven learning.
After a word of welcome by Sufi and Emily, guests browsed the over 80 booths in which the students presented the outcomes of their projects. From testing bridge constructions to inquiry into a more sustainable F1, from explorations of graphic design to restoring antique furniture – the class of 2028 baffled their audience with creativity, ingenuity and personal passion.
On stage, Joonhoo interviewed Maite about her learning on how to help friends and loved ones struggling with depression. Guests also went on a signature hunt to complete their Project Bingo cards. With some good food, it was an entertaining evening.
At the end of the evening, five students were awarded this year’s Personal Project Awards:
- Personal Project Community Award – For a project with a particularly high impact on our UNIS community – Helena – Development of standardized certification for chemical use in the textile industry.
- Personal Project STEM Award – For a project with a particularly thoughtful exploration of a STEM Topic – Vihaan – Development of a Google Integrated AI assistant to help students plan their work better.
- Personal Project Personal Passion Award – For a project particularly born out of personal passion – Lara – Exploring the historical ties between Vietnam and Germany through portrait photography.
- Personal Project Coordinators Award – For a project with a particularly impressive application of Approaches to Learning skills – Haeun – Exemplary inquiry into how financial scams affect teenagers.
The MYP personal project is the culminating project for MYP students in grade 10. Students engage in practical and self-directed learning through a cycle of inquiry, action, and reflection. The Personal Project is a requirement for obtaining the UNIS Diploma in grade 12, and completion is certified by the International Baccalaureate.
