Over the 9-10 September weekend, the Board hosted the 7th Governance as Leadership Training Institute for international school board members and administrators from the South East Asia Region and beyond. The Training Workshop is designed to help boards and their school heads work together to improve the level of governance at their schools. The importance of this annual event is reflected in the number of new delegates who choose to travel from as far away as Japan and India as well as those schools who continue to return every year for this unique training opportunity.
The Conference was led by former Head of School UNIS Dr Chip Barder (2008-2018) and Bambi Betts, both Directors of the Principals’ Training Center for International School Leadership.
The two days offered a wealth of information and equipped us with practical knowledge on how we, as a Board can build a culture of governance within our school boards whilst undertaking our fiduciary and strategic responsibilities, and navigating the many challenges facing international schools today.
