Connect to Nature with SCO Wellness!
On 10 April, 30 adventurous members of the UNIS Hanoi parent community hopped on a bus for a day of fresh air, connection, and nature in the Ham Lon area of Soc Son. The outing, organized by the SCO Wellness Committee and the UNIS Activities Office, offered a chance to build friendships while exploring the beautiful trails just outside Hanoi.
Participants could choose between three scenic hiking routes—a 2.2 gentle hike, a 5km out-and-back walk along the Ham Lon Fire Trail and a more challenging 6km loop with a challenging ascent and descent.
In true UNIS spirit, the entire group chose the medium and difficult routes—proving that wellness and a little adventure go hand in hand!. The trailhead to lots of different hiking trails is located at the Trang Thiều Camping site which is equipped with washrooms and drink/food options, making it a perfect weekend place for families and serious trail enthusiasts.
All of the participants came away feeling accomplished and hopefully more connected! A huge thank you to Sarah Garner, who not only imagined this event but brought it to life through thoughtful planning and coordination with Toby Jarman in the Activities Office, and to our volunteer group leaders Anna Steinmetz, Gisela Trebutt and Irene Curley, and especially to the SCO for funding the bus hire.
