Congrats Hanoi Science Debate 2025 Talents!

Congratulations to all UNIS and SIS Gamuda students who participated in the Hanoi Science Debate Competition, which was held on 8 February at UNIS Hanoi! Both UNIS Team I and Team II showed exceptional engagements throughout the event, achieving remarkable results by securing 1st and 3rd place respectively!

The competition featured a dynamic format including 1 round of jeopardy quiz, which requires intra-team cooperation to solve scientific knowledge questions, followed by 3 intense debate rounds, which requires comprehensive preliminary research on the topics as well as the following skills: delivery, use of evidence, understanding of scientific principles, rebuttals, defending rebuttals, organization & conclusion.

The topics debated included:

1. Physics: Are high-temperature superconductors a feasible solution to reduce energy loss in power grids on an industrial scale?
2. Chemistry: Is investing in biodegradable plastics preferable over recycling and waste management innovations?
3. Biology: Is there a benefit in manipulating the human microbiome as a treatment for chronic diseases?

In the final debate round, UNIS Team I and SIS Gamuda Team I debated on a question which was revealed on the spot: Are Satellite Internet Constellations a feasible solution to the lack of Global Internet Connections?
