Earlier today, the Class of 2020 graduated in true style from UNIS Hanoi. The ceremony, which took place in the Centre for the Arts, featured speeches from the UN Resident Coordinator, Mr Kamal Malhotra, our Head of School, Ms Jane McGee and student nominated faculty member, Ms Jennifer Louvet.

Celebrity singer and mother one of our graduates, Diva Mỹ Linh, sang an a cappella rendition of the Vietnamese national anthem while Hye Min Lim and Đào Nguyên delivered a hilarious and poignant speech on behalf of the Class of 2020. Other highlights included music by a High School band and a heartfelt performance by Josh Scott and Mỹ Anh Trương. Graduating students who could not attend in person, joined the event via zoom. The ceremony, from start to finish was live streamed via our High School Youtube channel.

Addressing the students, Ms McGee said, “We are truly privileged to be here today. Around the world many of your peers are unable to physically experience this event that celebrates the achievements of each and every one of you. The opportunity to come together with your friends, classmates, families and teachers is in itself something that will set you apart as a UNIS Hanoi 2020 graduate.

“…We are all acutely aware in these times how significant this moment is; that other people aren’t able to have the same experiences and that this moment many not have happened. You may so easily have been doing this on zoom. But the simple reflection should inspire us to think more broadly about what we have, what we value, and how we will take advantage of our experiences and our gifts.

“…I think that the Class of 2020 is a class that is now especially prepared to embrace the future, to persevere through hardships and to focus on what matters most to you and the world.

“…Today we will give you a Diploma, but what you choose to do with it is up to you… We are proud to have been a part of your journey… On behalf of the faculty and staff at UNIS Hanoi, I wish you the very best as you leave us. Congratulations and Good luck!”

At the end of the Ceremony, each new graduate was presented with a special gift box from the School. Packed with memorabilia such as their invitation card, messages from their teachers, a branded laundry bag and other goodies.

The Grand Walk

The day before the Graduation Ceremony, the Class of 2020 went on their final walk around the campus to cheers of congratulations from all learners, young and old.
