Celebrating UNIS Hanoi’s Mathletes!
 ASMA MATHEMATICS COMPETITION

Over the course of 6 months within this academic year, a small group of Grades 9-12 students set aside some of their free time to take part in the American Scholastic Mathematics Association Senior Division Contest 2024-2025. This is an individual mathematics competition that consists of 6 rounds – one per month. Each round contains 7 problems and students can take up to 35 minutes to solve as many of the problems as they can. For younger students the concepts and skills in the contest definitely go beyond their regular syllabus. For each student who participated, a record of their individual cumulative scores was sent off after each round. Congratulations to our highest-scoring student Duc D with 38 points! He received the highest score award in assembly last week.

 CEMC MATHEMATICS COMPETITION

In February, 15 students took the Pascal/Cayley/Fermat contest which is organised by the CEMC, University of Waterloo (Centre for Education in Mathematics and Computing). This individual competition consists of 25 multiple-choice questions that test logical thinking and mathematical problem-solving, and students get 60 minutes to solve as many questions as possible. The last few questions are designed to test ingenuity and insight. There were 11 students who ranked in the top 25 percent of contestants world-wide, and they received a certificate of distinction! We would like to acknowledge the UNIS highest scoring students in each contest. Congratulations to: Grade 9 Pascal contest: Tanvi. Grade 10 Cayley contest: Arin. Grade 11 Fermat contest: Duc.
