To boost their knowledge, Grade 4 students met with on campus experts Nurse Jo and UNIS Physiotherapist Marc Voicechovski. During an onsite field trip students assessed their handwashing skills, took a look down the microscopes of the High School Science Lab, courtesy of Mr Christie, and visited the physiotherapy room where Mr Marc explained the muscular-skeletal systems, and demonstrated the ways his role supports student athletes to repair and take care of, their bodies.
Most excitingly for the students, Mr Marc hooked each homeroom teacher up to a machine that used electricity to stimulate their nervous system, resulting in involuntary movements of their fingers. Luckily for the teachers, this was a highly controlled experiment, and yet the idea that their teachers brain signals could be controlled externally, via machine, provided intriguing food for thought…
