DP Exhibition Highlights Grade 12 Student

DP Exhibition Highlights Grade 12 Student

The UNIS Hanoi community gathered on Wednesday, 3 April, to celebrate the creative achievements of our talented Grade 12 student artists at the opening night of the highly anticipated DP Art Exhibition. Hosted in the Centre for the Arts (B10), the event welcomed families, friends, and teachers to admire the culmination of two years of hard work, creative exploration, and personal growth. The exhibition will remain on display until 23 April, offering visitors a chance to experience the artistic journey of 29 remarkable student artists.

This year’s exhibition is themed “Crossroads,” a reflection of the pivotal point these young artists find themselves at—navigating the transition from school to adulthood, from process to product, and from curiosity to creative mastery.

In their opening remarks, student speakers Vy and Kate shared heartfelt reflections on their two-year journey:

“When we entered Grade 11, we were all like ‘blank canvases,’ not knowing what direction to take. We experimented with new media for the first time, documenting every success and failure in our portfolios. At the beginning of this school year, we started our very own exhibitions from scratch. The sheer amount of creative freedom makes it more overwhelming. But uncertainty is part of the process. And my biggest takeaway from my personal encounter with the exhibition is that you’ve got to trust the process. Just this morning, I took a moment to walk around this building, and it’s fascinating how we each found our own voice and our own passion for art. There is absolutely no ‘easy’ path to success in art: the countless hours in the studio, the frustration when the medium doesn’t match the perfect image in our heads, washing off the paint smeared on our hands, the helplessness when our ideas don’t flow the way we wanted them to. Challenges do come up, but that makes us even prouder standing here today, sharing our final artworks with you.”
— Vy and Kate, Grade 12

The exhibition is a testament not only to individual talent but also to collaboration and resilience. Speaking on behalf of the Visual Arts team, Ms Bradley and Ms Graham praised the students’ collective effort:

“These students have truly impressed us with their collaborative spirit. They’ve shared studio spaces, they’ve transformed the UNIS Center for the Arts foyer into a stunning gallery, and they’ve navigated the complex, multi-step review process that led to the exhibition’s theme, ‘Crossroads.’ It’s a theme that perfectly captures the pivotal moment they’re in, both as artists and as young adults.”

We invite the entire UNIS Hanoi community to visit the Centre for the Arts and experience this powerful exhibition—a true celebration of creativity, perseverance, and student voice.
