GALTI 2025
Energising and equipping a Board of Directors to embrace strategic governance and to operate at a generative level for the benefit of our institutions is no easy task. But it can be done… with a little help!
This is what the UNIS Hanoi Board of Directors and their colleagues from more than 20 international schools have discovered, as they embarked together on a ground breaking journey nearly ten years ago.
The 9th annual GALTI Conference with the theme “Resilient Governance: Navigating Change with Integrity and Vision” will be held on 13-14 September, 2025, led by Homa Tavangar and Rami Madani.
Homa Tavangar, co-founder of the BIG Questions Institute
Homa has extensive experience working with schools and their Boards around the world through strategic planning, good governance and leadership, crisis, innovation and growing equity, inclusion, belonging, and cultural competence. She has served on multiple Boards, including currently on the Board of International School Services, and advised organizations ranging from leading international schools, Ivy League universities, Fortune 100 corporations and multilateral development organizations. She is a best-selling author and co-founder of the Big Questions Institute.

GALTI 2025 Programme Overview
GALTI 2025 builds upon the strong foundation of previous years while offering several key enhancements. The programme is built directly in response to feedback from more than 350 delegates who have attended the past years' events. It will include:
Strategic Case Studies & Scenario Planning
- AI integration and policy development
- Social polarisation and reputational risk
- Financial oversight and board accountability
- Global compliance and cultural pressures
Informed by new 2025 EARCOS Head of School Survey data, participants will engage with real-world case studies focused on:
1. Committee Mastery
Deep dives into the roles of finance, governance, strategic planning, DEIB, and head of school evaluation committees will provide practical insights for maximising impact.
2. Govern Like a Futurist
Participants will learn to apply strategic foresight tools, conduct risk assessments, and align decision-making with long-term mission and sustainability goals.
3. Purposeful Networking
From “big question” conversation prompts to job-alike groups and thematic discussions, the structure of the weekend is designed to build a strong, lasting network of governance peers.
4. Women in Governance
New this year, we will create space for women trustees to share insights and foster connection. Sessions will explore how to ensure inclusive, equitable leadership cultures in the boardroom.
Tailored Breakout Tracks
Trustees will engage in differentiated learning based on their experience:
- New Trustees: Governance fundamentals, ethical practices, and getting to know your school community.
- Experienced Trustees: Crisis leadership, institutional memory, and advanced policy and risk navigation.
Cost of Attendance
- 2-Day, 13-14 September, 2025 Training Institute fee is $800 USD for each delegate.
- Join a pre-institute session for Board Chairs and Heads of School on Friday September 12 for an additional $50 USD
