International
Baccalaureate Asia Pacific OCC Workshops at UNIS
UNIS Campus & Melia Hotel, 3-9 October
2006
The International Baccalaureate Asia Pacific’s
Online Curriculum Centre workshops were held at the UNIS Campus
last Tuesday, 3 October. This event was part of the IBAP Conference
that took place in Hanoi over the week. Many UNIS staff and students
were involved in welcoming and organising the participants.
All 200-plus participants were warmly greeted and escorted to
the computer labs and library where they accessed the internet
and learn about the current status of the IB OCC. Participants
then assembled in the canteen to browse an exhibition of IB work
and listen to the obvious talents of two of our Grade 11 students,
Ai Ninomiya and Han A Ryu. The event concluded with a cocktail
reception.
I believe that in all respects UNIS-Hanoi was well represented;
our students acted as guides, student work was well exhibited and
the musical entertainment was simply awesome.
Our students also assisted at the Conference, as helpers and as
performers for the Opening (Grade 5) and Closing (Grade 7) ceremonies.
Alun Cooper Head of School
The grade 7 performing arts class,
held a spectacular performance at the closing dinner of the IB conference
last night. They had the audience mesmerized with a hilarious and intelligent
mime extolling the virtues of the IB learner profile. The five minute
show was devised and created by the students themselves.
