The
Library Media Centre (LMC) is a central resource for the entire
UNIS community. At UNIS we aim to educate our students to think
independently, to express ideas, to seek and discover, and
to work cooperatively using
the wide variety of resources available in the library. The
library has over 29,000 print and non-print items and is
equipped with computer
workstations with access to the online catalogue, the internet
and online research databases. The library has data projection
facilities, a mini-computer lab and a large screen video/ DVD viewing
room.
The librarian is available for help with reference and research queries
and collaborates with teachers in scheduling the use of the library
facilities for class and small group activities. The librarian supports
teachers with collaborative planning of research assignments, gathering
of resources and preparation of research guides for students.
Elementary students visit the library once a week as a class to choose
books for leisure reading. These visits usually include a
story time or library skills instructional activity presented
by the librarian.
