Operation Smile
Operation Smile International Medical Mission once again was a tremendous learning and community service experience for those involved. Over a five-day period around 110 people received cleft or palate reconstructions, skin grafts, and acid burn repair surgeries

 
Birla Visit to UNIS
Last weekend kids from the Birla Orphanage came to visit us for the last time this year. When they arrived we had great fun playing games such as tag and octopus with them.
 

Donxa Visit 4 - 22 April 2006
UNIS students and staff went on their fourth visit to Co Lao to visit the school and nursery. We had raised enough money to re-paint the schoolroom, and to tile the nursery floor in soft, cushioned jigsaw tiles.

On Saturday 25 February UNIS students and staff went on their third visit to Co Lao to visit the school and nursery. We started off in the School, where we presented them with stationery, small white boards and educational posters.

On Saturday, UNIS students and staff went on their second visit to Co Loa to visit the school and nursery. We started off in the School, where we presented them with puzzles, games, paper and crayons.

 

UNIS visit to Birla Orphanage
Each month the children at the Birla Orphange in Hanoi visit UNIS to celebrate their birthday and play games organised by the UNIS students.

 

Grade 5 Wrap
Soap, shampoo, clothes, coloured pencils, soccer balls, books, toothbrushes. What do all these things have in common? These are some of the gifts that the grade five students brought in and wrapped on Monday December 12th.

 

Blue Dragon Rises at UNIS - 5 December 2005
Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation (www.bdcf.org) is an organization to help street kids in Hanoi and around Vietnam. A group of about 20 children from BDCF have been coming to UNIS once a week for an hour to spend time with UNIS students.

 

Donxa: 12 November 2005
Donxa is an independent Belgium NGO that creates aid projects for needy development areas in northern Vietnam. UNIS students have been asked to work with a school and kindergarten for handicapped children in the village of Co Lao.

 

Terry Fox Run Success: 13 November 2005
Over 100 UNIS students participated in the Terry Fox Run for Charity. About 6500 people, including 1000 foreigners working and studying in Hanoi, attended the 6th annual Terry Fox Charity Run in support for cancer research.

 

Return of Birla at UNIS: 12 November 2005
The Birla Orphanage visited UNIS this past Saturday with the usual fun and games shared amongst students, teachers, and children from the orphanage.

 

Peer Tutoring
Middle School and High School students are learning to appreciate what teachers are all about! They are putting on their tutoring hats and working with elementary school students in the library every Monday afternoon.

 

Nhat Tan Middle School
Nhat Tan is a local Middle School which is located close to UNIS on the dyke road. Each week students from this school come to UNIS to learn keyboards, circus skills, bicycle maintenance and board games.

 

UNIS Visits Operation Smile
The UNIS Operation Smile Community Service group has begun its annual visits to local Vietnamese schools.

 

Thuy An Village
The Thuy An Village is an orphanage for mentally and physically impaired children, babies, teenagers and adults. Every two week UNIS high school students travel to Ba Vi where they play games with the children and help the staff in the nursery.

 

Birla Orphanage Visits UNIS Hanoi, 8 October 2005
Birla Orphanage children visited UNIS on Saturday October 8th for the first time this year. Each month during the school year the Birla kids come to UNIS to interact with our students and to celebrate the birthdays of the kids born in that month.

 

Peace Village visits UNIS Hanoi - 1 October 2005
On Saturday, UNIS Hanoi was visited by children and young adults from the Peace Village. Middle and High School students provided activities, snacks, drinks, and other treats to entertain their visitors.
