I went to UNIS from 1993-1997, after which I went to the same boarding school in Sweden as Angelica Kilander.  A year later, when she moved to Beijing, I went with my parents to live in Tokyo.  I graduated from the American School there and am currently in my second year of biology at the University of Edinburgh.  I can tell you that Angelica is now actually at the University of Lund and not Stockholm, where she is living with her boyfriend.  I am still in touch with both her and Ulf Attve, we try to meet up whenever we can.  I also keep in touch with a few people both from 7N ('95-'96) and 8S (Grape Apes '96-'97). It would be great to get in touch with some of you and a UNIS reunion definitely sounds like a good idea!

UNIS was an amazing experience for me. I spent most of childhood there. I met some incredible people while I was there. Right now I am in university and will be graduating in a year. I will be visiting Hanoi during Summer 2006, cause my parents are living there now.

After leaving Hanoi in 93 I attended and finished boarding school in the UK. After the UK I moved to Canada. I am presently in the second last year of my Software Engineering degree. I'd love to hear from anybody I went to school with, particularly Sion, Adam or Alex. If any of you are in eastern Canada or the US drop me a  line and we'll have to meet up for a drink. (11/02)

Hey Everyone After leaving UNIS, I went straight to a boarding school in England, where I've been ever since. Its great here, I'm incredibly lucky! I'm here for 3 more years and then I'm planning on going on a gap year back to Vietnam! That's how much I miss it! My parents are also living here, but they are going abroad again in 2 years. I can't wait because I'm bored of being English. If you remember me, please write! (03/2002)

Penrith is situated 1 hour west of Sydney and close by to the Blue Mountains, hope to meet up one day for a reunion of UNISers. You can email me with your news. (09/02)

I was at UNIS from 1993-94 and it was a GREAT time of my life. After leaving there (at the age of 10). I went back to Australia and finished my schooling. Now I am on a Student exchange to Austria for a year (of which I only have until January) and it is fantastic. My plans for next year are to Go to the Australian National Institute for Dramatic Arts (NIDA) to do Acting for films - should be good!. (09/02)

I have been in Australia since I left Hanoi, finished school, and have been working in the hotel industry for 3 years. My brother David is on exchange in Austria at present, and my sister Alison is engaged and will be getting married next year. I'm all for a
reunion - let's get Ms Thomas and Mr Machell in as well. Anyone know their whereabouts? (09/02)

Name: Maria Spence
Years at UNIS: 1996-1999

I feel like such a sap because as I read the notes from the student alumni, I started to cry. My name is Maria Spence and I taught for three years at UNIS, from 1996-99, grades 8-12 English. I am so excited to see what has become of some of my old students and am so proud of them. I can't wait to find out what others are doing. What I really want to know is how the Grade 9's (who will always be the Grade 9's to me, even though they graduated the year after I left) did on their IB tests!

Currently I live in Southern California with my husband and my beautiful daughter, Rachel, who was born in Hanoi the year we left. I teach ESL to adults in the evenings at our local adult school and am able to stay home during the day with Rachel. We are really enjoying being near family and friends, but our hope is that we will be able to teach overseas again someday, perhaps when Rachel is older and can fully enjoy and learn from her experience. After meeting all the terrific kids we did in Hanoi, I'm excited about the possibility of her going to an international school. Our only fear is that the next place we teach won't be able to compare to UNIS -- the students or the staff.

If any of you would like to send your cranky old English teacher an e-picture or anything, I'd love it! You touched my life in a big way.

After UNIS, I went to High School at the United World College in Singapore, which went really well. I graduated in 1997 and went to Harvard for university, where I studied Social Studies. While in college I did a few interesting things like working in northern Sudan and doing thesis research in Cuba. Having graduated in 2001, I started working in Pakistan/Afghanistan, but got transferred to Vietnam after 9/11, and am now happily based in Hanoi working for an NGO. I'd love to hear from any of you guys from the early 90s in Hanoi, so drop me an e-mail if you check out this site. (03/2003)

I came to Vietnam just before I turned 9 in 1998 and I was in Ho Chi Minh for 3 years until my father was offered a job at the Australian Embassy Hanoi. This was when I started going to UNIS. Although I was only here for a year it felt like an entire lifetime and I couldn't imagine life without that experience. Now I attend Scotch College Adelaide in Australia and even though this school is costing my parents $13,000 a year it doesn't compare to UNIS in the slightest bit. At UNIS there is excellent teaching, positive environment and Friendly, knowledgeable kids. I really hope to come back and visit sometime. I love you all.

I taught grade 1 ESL at UNIS for 1 year and had a great time. I was very sorry that we had to leave and I was unable to continue my employment there. I have been back and seen the new school and I think it is fantastic.
