Tuition and Fees 2007 - 2008

Tuition and Fees Agreement

ENROLMENT PRIOR TO THE BEGINNING OF THE SCHOOL

Deposit: For returning students of the United Nations International School of Hanoi (UNIS) a deposit of US$ 1,000 is payable by 2 April 2007 or at the time of enrollment for a new student. (Please Note: for new students, an application fee is payable at submission of application and the deposit is payable when a place in UNIS is confirmed.) This deposit is mandatory. Payment of the deposit will guarantee a seat for the student listed in the invoice provided all other requirements are met. Failure to make payment by the due date may result in the loss of a seat for the student. The deposit will be credited against tuition in the first invoice for the 2007-2008 school year. The deposit is refundable if a student is not able to attend UNIS. The deposit is non-transferable.

For students enrolling at the beginning of the school year, there are two payment options:

Option One:	A full academic year’s tuition is paid by the first day of school (20 August 2007) or at the date of enrollment if in the first quarter.
Option Two:	A quarterly payment plan with no refund option. A four percent (4%) finance charge will be levied on the total tuition. Please refer to the tuition table outlined below, which specifies the percentage of total tuition to be paid each quarter.

Compulsory Fees

The following fees are compulsory, non-refundable and non-transferable.
Students enrolling in the Discovery Program are not required to pay these fees.

Application Fee: US$250 per student
This is a one-time fee payable when the application form is submitted. This Fee is payable for all students who are applying to be accepted to UNIS for the first time. (PLEASE NOTE: If a student has previously applied, was not been offered a space at UNIS and subsequently applies again, a Re-testing Fee of US$ 150 per student may be applied if re-testing is required.)

Enrolment Fee: US$ 750 per student
This is a fee which is payable when a student who is applying to be accepted to UNIS is offered a space with the School. The Enrolment Fee must only be paid once, so long as a student is continuously enrolled. If a student leaves UNIS for a period of more than two years and, subsequently reapplies, the Enrolment Fee is again payable.

Annual Development Fee: US$3,000 per student ($1,500 per semester)
This fee must be paid annually by each student enrolled at UNIS. This fee may be paid on a semester basis, but no refund will be made for any amounts already paid. The Annual Development Fee for Pre-kindergarten is US$ 1,500 per student ($750 per semester).

Other Fees

EAL Fee: US$1,000 per year ($250 per quarter)
This fee for English as an Additional Language instruction must be paid before the beginning of each quarter in which instruction will be received. The fee is based upon a quarter of instruction, regardless of when the student enrolls at the School. Refunds will be provided only for full quarters of non-participation. This fee is non-transferable.

School Bus Fee: US$550 per year ($137.50 per quarter)
This fee is for students who elect to take the transportation contracted by the School. This fee may be paid on a quarterly basis. Refunds will be provided only for full quarters of non-usage.

Swedish Fee: To Be Determined (Swedish students only)
The Swedish Language Programme is for native Swedish speakers only. The fee is payable in full at the time of enrollment in the Swedish Language Programme.

ENROLMENT After 20 August 2007 for the 2007-2008 Academic Year

For students enrolling during the first quarter but after the first day of school, the tuition payment options apply as shown in the table below. For students enrolling during the second, third or fourth quarters, tuition will be payable as follows:

If Option Two (the quarterly payment plan) is chosen, the first payment is due at enrollment and all subsequent payments are due at the beginning of the following quarters, as shown on the Aunnual Tuition table.

Refund Procedures for Tuition

For students withdrawing during the 2007-2008 school year, refunds will only apply if Option One was chosen. Refunds will be in accordance with the following schedule:

Withdrawal during first quarter (on or before 12 Oct 2007)	65% of annual tuition refunded
Withdrawal during second quarter (on or before14 Dec 2007)	40% of annual tuition refunded
Withdrawal during third quarter (on or before 21 Mar 2008)	15% of annual tuition refunded
Withdrawal during fourth quarter (after 21 Mar 2008)	No refund provided

Special Discounts

Students enrolled at UNIS are eligible for the following discounts under the following circumstances:

Families with three or more children simultaneously in attendance at UNIS will receive a ten percent (10%) discount on tuition only for the third child and a fifteen percent (15%) discount on tuition only for the fourth and subsequent child(ren). These discounts will be applied to the youngest children in attendance.

For children who have attended UNIS for four consecutive years, beginning with the fifth year of attendance, a discount of US$ 500 of the Annual Development Fee will be applied.

Payment Procedures for Tuition and Fees

Payment may be made by one of three methods:

Cheque drawn on a local bank denominated in U.S. dollars made payable to the United Nations International School of Hanoi.
Direct bank transfer in U.S. dollars to the school’s bank account at ANZ Bank in Hanoi (Account number 111074), located on 14 Le Thai To Street
Cash deposit of U.S. dollars at ANZ Bank into the school’s account. Any bank charges incurred by the school from payments other than according to the above instructions will be charged to the student’s account.

Tuition and fees are to be payable by the invoice due date. Late payment penalties shall be applied as follows:

After 15 days beyond the invoice due date: 10% penalty applied.
After 30 days beyond the invoice due date: all student records will be withheld by the school and the Head of School may dis-enroll the student(s).
