Origami
Grade 6 English B Classes, 4 June 2007

On Monday June 4, Mrs. Nishikori, Mrs.Nishimura, Mrs. Yukinori and Mrs. Yamakawa  visited Grade 6 English B classes and taught the students how to make various beautiful origami figures, including the paper crane.  Students recently finished the book Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes, the true story of a young Japanese girl in Hiroshima who contacted leukemia after the atom bomb was dropped on that city at the end of WW2.  Following the legend, Sadako had hoped to fold a thousand cranes to make her wish of becoming better come true. Sadako made 644 cranes before she died. UNIS Grade 6 students finished a few more for her.
