On the afternoon of Tuesday, December 12th in the year
of 1206 between the hours of 13.40 pm and 14.50pm, Grade 7 students and
teachers held their annual Medieval Fair Afternoon on the grounds of
UNIS.
The purpose of the fair was to celebrate the closure
of the Grade 7‘s Medieval Studies with a Medieval Fair where Grade
7 students and teachers dressed in medieval costumes and travelled back
to the year 1206.
The Town Crier opened the fair by welcoming people, read the programme
and wished them a fun afternoon.
People were involved in stage performances based on a story titled “Catherine
called Birdy” and other people played medieval music on their recorders.
These performances were highly successful
Following the stage performances people had the opportunity
to take part in many different medieval activities. Once the activity
supervisor was satisfied with their participation they were rewarded
with a small gift.
People could walk on stilts, juggle, practice archery
skills, play chess with large sized chess pieces and take part in a jousting
competition.
The last activity announced by the Town Crier was the
Tug of War. Each team had a mixture of peasants, monks, nobles, baronesses,
and knights as well as the Town Crier
The afternoon was concluded by the Town Crier announcing
it was time for all people to make their way home before darkness falls.
