Healthy Snack Day is May 7th, 2007
Green Team Presentations,
6 March 2007
The Green Team organized a
Healthy Snack Day to promote healthy foods for healthy bodies and also create a healthy environment. Tomorrow, we
hope that families will take the time
to prepare a nutritious snack, free of
any extra wrappings and non
biodegradable wrapping (mainly
plastic). Plastic does not break down
back to soil, clutters rubbish dumps
and blows around our environment
looking untidy and causing harm to
other living creatures. Avoiding
plastic wrapped junk foods helps us
maintain both healthy bodies and a
healthy environment.
Families could try dried fruits
(sultanas, dates), fresh vegetables
(carrots, celery, cucumber, cocktail
tomatoes), fresh fruit (an apple), dry
whole-wheat biscuits, dips and
cheeses. Remember, because of
children with serious peanut allergies,
no peanuts or peanut products
please! For wrapping, try using
sealable containers that can keep the
foods inside fresh instead of
disposable plastic wrappings.
The Elementary Green Team is
taking action and wants to encourage
all of us to avoid excess plastic
wrapping and provide nutritious fuel
for our students’ working day.
