Grade 5 Camp
V-Resort, Kim Duc-Kim Boi – Hoa Binh, 1-3 November 2006

The Grade 5 camp was a great success for all the teachers involved as well as for the students. The location was picturesque, the facilities were great, the food was plenty and overall every minute was purposeful and fun. Positive comments were continually repeated, and this is still the case now we are back at school and in the classroom once again.  Camp will remain with us for a long time!

Please enjoy some of the articles written by the grade 5 students.

Activities
During camp we had activity stations. There were four stations one of which was with Ms. Heather and Mrs. Baird. With Ms. Heather and Mrs. Baird we had to paint a mural with a small group. We had to paint something that had happened in camp or what we were looking forward to. There was another station with Mr. Caleb and Ms Melissa and we had to film our commercials that we had worked on in class. There was also an activity with Mr. Phi (Middle high school PE teacher) and Mr. Baird we played a sort of volleyball game. Last we had ‘Bandage Me’ with Ms. Lise-lott and ‘Who Am I? with Ms. Jane. With Ms. Lise-lott we learned how to cure injuries and with Ms. Jane we learnt a lot more about each other and ourselves.

About the Hike
In our grade 5 camp we went out to the mountains for a hike. It was very adventurous and some people slipped in the mud and lost their shoe. The most adventurous part was that we needed to jump from one place to another. The entire grades 5 were all muddy. The funniest part was Trung who lost his shoe. Finally Mr. Baird found Trung’s shoe. We had to walk between the plantation and we had to walk along thin paths. The plants scratched some children. When we went on top of one mountain, many people took pictures of the view from the mountain. Then Mr. Caleb took a whole grade 5 group photo. Some people then went to climb another mountain. We returned to camp on a different road.

Red Faces
At camp on Thursday night all the grade 5’s got together in the community hall and did funny acts to make the audience laugh. There were 3 judges, George (Ms. Jane), Ms. Phi (Mr. Phi), and Barbie girl (Ms. Melissa). Mr. Phi was the most ruthless judge of all then it was Ms. Jane then Ms Melissa. It was a tough contest but in the end the Barbie girls act by Hauke and Luke came in first place with 39.2 points. Then in second place it was Jack and Tim with the Diablo and a total of 36.4 points and Andrea and Ridhika with 32.8 doing acrobatics. Then at the end the judges did a dance. It was a fun night and we’re sure the grade 5’s next year will enjoy it very much.
