Terry Fox
Run for Charity
Thien Quang Lake, 24 September 2006
Over 180 UNIS students and staff participated
in the Terry Fox Run for Charity on Sunday, September 24. UNIS
student volunteers
were operating the registration table, selling t-shirts,
raffle tickets and hats, distributing water to runners, coordinating
tattoos and
helping with the clean-up.
Over 8000 participants attended the sixth annual
Terry Fox 2005 Charity Run in support for cancer research. According
to an initial report,
over VND 275 million was collected from the run in Hanoi
through the sales of T-shirts, hats, and newspapers.
This figure is certain to rise in the upcoming weeks.
The sum will be donated to
the Hanoi Cancer Hospital for its research on early
diagnosis of breast and cervical cancer. As you can see by the
photos below
UNIS had a
strong team of student and teacher runners who were
a small part of the over 8000 participants in the event.
Approximately $400 will be contributed from the UNIS community.
Congratulations on this excellent effort.
